YOYP Tourism Conference Guest Speaker – Sheila Gilmore, VisitArran

Amidst an exciting programme of leadership, mentoring and social media workshops, we are delighted to have Sheila Gilmore, Executive Director at VisitArran, sitting on our ‘Ask the CEO’ panel as part of the YOYP Tourism Conference this November.

Sheila is Arran born and bred. Following a ‘brief sojourn’ into education for 25yrs, she became Executive Director of VisitArran, and the Arran Trust (the island’s visitor gifting scheme).  During the past six years she has seen considerable business growth in both companies, winning many accolades.  She is actively involved in the island community on a voluntary basis, and has a passion for everything that the beautiful Isle of Arran has to offer.

VisitArran believes that any initiative must benefit the island as a whole, and it is perhaps this reason that the organisation, under Sheila’s leadership, was awarded the National Thistle Award for Working Together for Tourism earlier this year. Sheila has always been a great supporter of young people working in tourism industry and has been instrumental in VisitArran’s year-long work placement with pupils from Arran High School.

Sheila brings a wealth of destination tourism experience to our panel, and we can’t wait to speak to her more about what else businesses can do to really make the most of their young workforce.
