Women in Tourism Edinburgh Event: Speaker Line-Up
Ahead of our Edinburgh networking event at the stylish Radisson Collection Royal Mile Hotel on Wednesday 18 April, we’re delighted to showcase the inspiring industry speakers who’ll be taking part in our discussion panel on the night.
David Cochrane, Chief Executive, Hospitality Industry Trust Scotland
After commencing his career at the Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh, David started working for Norfolk Capital Hotels at the Caledonian Hotel. He left there to join Gardner Merchant as a chef manger, progressing to District Training Co-ordinator covering the central region. This training experience led him into the Hotel and Catering Training Company, working with Youth Training and unemployment projects. He also undertook a Leonardo da Vinci European project to help implement Vocational Qualifications in Scottish prisons! David has been the Training Manager at the internationally renowned Gleneagles hotel. He developed his passion for people development, and this led him naturally to take on the role of Chief Executive of HIT Scotland.
Pip Haydock, Director, The2Gether Partnership
Pip Haydock is Lead Facilitator on the Destination Leaders Programme Module, Defining Leadership (programme funded by Scottish Enterprise and delivered by Edinburgh Napier University). Pip is also Managing Director of ‘The 2Gether Partnership’, her own successful consultancy business which she founded nine years ago with a focus on Leadership and Influencing, Presence and Impact and helping people to have authentic Conversations. Julia MacGregor, Women in Tourism #YOYP18 Board Member
Julia is the Social Media & Online Reputation Manager at Apex Hotels. After studying journalism, she was hooked by the world of public relations. Based in Edinburgh, since graduating she has enjoyed working for a number of organisations across the tourism and leisure industry, before taking on her current role at Apex Hotels. One of the reasons Julia was eager to play a role in the Women in Tourism organisation was to help to highlight the opportunities and variety of career paths available for the younger work force. Outside her 9-5, she is a keen freelance writer, and a passionate foodie and traveller, both of which come through in her blog, Fizz and Pheasant.
