Women in Tourism Glasgow Event Speakers: Aileen Crawford
Looking ahead to our Women in Tourism Networking Event on 11 September in Glasgow, we’re delighted to showcase the inspiring industry speakers who’ll be taking part in our discussion panel. Next up is Aileen Crawford, Head of Conventions, Glasgow Convention Bureau.
Aileen has worked in the meetings industry for 20 years: initially in venue sales for Glasgow Museums, then in a variety of roles within the Conventions team at the Tourist Board, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, and now Head of Conventions at Glasgow Convention Bureau.
Aileen is a graduate in English and History from the University of Glasgow with a Post Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester.
In 2011, Aileen took over the position as Head of the Conventions, following 5 years as Deputy. Aileen’s team focus on association research, conference sales, the Glasgow Conference Ambassador Programme, accommodation booking and client support to position Glasgow as one of the best cities in the world to host a meeting.
In 2017 Glasgow Convention Bureau was voted ‘Best UK Convention Bureau’ for a record breaking 11 years by readers of Meetings & Incentive Travel and in 2016 were winners of the ABPCO Chairmen’s Award for their work on conference legacy and impact.
The Conventions team is targeted with delivering economic impact to the city of Glasgow through conference sales by working closely with key stakeholders, major venues, such as the Scottish Event Campus and the city’s academic community.
Currently on the Committee of ICCA UK & Ireland and Past Chair of the Business Tourism Conference Scotland 2016, Aileen is involved in best practice and meeting industry collaboration in the UK and internationally.
Aileen Crawford is part of the industry panel who will be discussing the theme, “Recruitment & Skills: How to encourage talent to the industry, create good outcomes & career paths” at the Women in Tourism networking event on 11 September in Glasgow.
