Claire Bruce, Chair, Visit Aberdeenshire
Claire and Michael Bruce own Glen Tanar Estate. The family business in Royal Deeside and the Cairngorms National Park incorporates the Victorian Ballroom, an events business, eight holiday cottages, country sports, forestry, farming and property. With twenty-nine years of tourism experience and marketing, Claire is Chair of Visit Aberdeenshire; she also sits on the STA Council and is a member of the Steering Group for the next Scottish Tourism Strategy.
Cathy Craig, Commercial & Memberships Director, Entrepreneurial Scotland
Prior to joining Entrepreneurial Scotland, Cathy was Commercial Director at both Calmac Ferries and Scotrail, where she was responsible for driving revenue, creating new customer propositions, marketing and positioning both organisations as credible tourism enablers for Scotland. Cathy is an experienced Executive with Board experience with skills in Commercial, Marketing, Sales, Business Development and People Change across a range of industries. She is active in Scottish Tourism development through her board roles with VisitScotland and Argyll and Isles Co-operative and is actively involved in mentoring.
Leonora Brebner, Sales Manager, Sandman Hotel Group
Leonora Brebner was born and brought up in Portugal. After attending Hotel School as her final year of school, she worked in the kitchen of a 2-star Michelin Restaurant at the Yeatman Hotel in Porto, before moving to Aberdeen to study International Hospitality Management at The Robert Gordon University. This included a placement at the Norwood Hall Hotel in Aberdeen, as well as a year of rotational training in the United States at Waccabuc Country Club in New York State and The Ocean Reef Club in Florida. After winning the 2017 Institute of Hospitality Student of the Year award in the UK, she joined the Marriott Graduate Programme in Sales & Marketing, based in Leicester, before returning to Aberdeen to join the new Sandman Signature Hotel as Sales Manager. Leonora is an invited member of the Institute of Hospitality.
Michael Foy, Depute Head, Aboyne Academy
Michael Foy is Depute Head Teacher at Aboyne Academy where he has worked since 2007. He is currently responsible for curriculum and timetabling. This incorporates implementation of Developing the Young Workforce, skills progression, digital learning, partnerships, work experience and outdoor learning. Michael achieved the Scottish Qualification for Headship in July 2017 and was Acting Head Teacher at Aboyne Academy from May to September 2018.
Clare Drewitt, Teacher and Programme Leader, Aboyne Academy
Claire Drewitt has been teaching Geography for over twenty years, ten at Aboyne Academy. From 2016 to 2018, Claire was Principal Teacher of Developing the Young Workforce and was responsible for the promotion of employability skills within the school. Claire also runs the Senior Phase Enrichment Programme which involves encouraging pupils to complete their Saltire Volunteering Award.
